Vote for David Ramirez!

If you've got about 30 seconds of time, take it to cast a vote for my friend David Ramirez, who is an excellent singer/songwriter. Dell is doing a contest to see who will get a chance to play on a main stage at the big music festival in Austin next year. You can vote at this website

All you have to do is scroll down and click "Vote Now." It will ask for your email address (they don't send you anything). Then, it immediately sends you an email with a link you just have to click on to confirm your vote.

Only one vote per person, per day, but you can vote for as many days as you like. Do it for the sake of good music everywhere!

(You can also listen to some of his music here)

Rare set of twins

Has anybody seen this story yet?! A set of fraternal twins was born in Germany yesterday. The rare part - one of them has dark skin and African features while the other has light skin and European features. The dad is German and the mom from Ghana. Very cool.

A Little Jonathan Edwards Humor

Jonathan Edwards preached what is probably the most well-known sermon in American History - "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." That title, much less words like "sin" and "God" (capital "G") wouldn't go over so well today, especially when people like Gene Robinson get up in front of a church and say things like, "If someone were to call a practice of yours a sin (like adultery, homosexuality, abortion...you know, the small stuff), would that make you want to know God?" Such a ridiculous question misses the entire message of the Bible and definitely is an apple far from the tree of the great Jonathan Edwards (who my son is admirably named after).

Jonathan's Baptism

Last Sunday, June 29, we had the God-given opportunity to baptize Jonathan. God has always made covenant with families and has always called on parents to apply the sign of the covenant to their children. Abraham, the father of faith, circumcized his children as a sign of their set-apart nature, in hopes that they would profess faith in God and live faithfully in the covenant. Now we, Abraham's children, baptize Jonathan, giving him the new seal of God's covenant, and praying that he will grow up to be a man who loves God and is faithful to His covenant.

My family, Janelle's family, and lots of my friends made the trek to Bryan to share this weekend with us. Here are some pictures from our celebration-picnic on Saturday and the baptism on Sunday.
