New Year's Resolutions

I've only got two New Year's resolutions this year, and they're related to one another:

1. Read a biography of John Calvin
2. Read Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion.

John Calvin is one of the most influential Christians to have ever lived, especially so when we're talking about all the Christian denominations which trace much of their theological roots back to him, including Presbyterian, Congregationalist, Baptist, Dutch Reformed, and pretty much anything else descended from Western Europe in the 16th century. This year is his 500th birthday, and I figure that the best way to celebrate him is to learn more about him and his legacy.

I think my goals are doable. I'm hoping to good Calvin-accountability from friends will help me along the way.

All you readers out there: Any New Year's resolutions you care to share? I'm interested in what you're interested in!

I got a great deal on an antique biography of Calvin a couple of years ago ($1) entitled, 'The Genius of Geneva.' I was less than impressed.

So don't get that one.

Never been much on new years resolutions, but I do have some specific things I want to accomplish.

1. Pass comps!

2. In the midst of studying, I want to make more time for my favorite hobby. I want to crochet more things for friends and charities.

3. See the movie made from my favorite book. (The Reader-Berhard Schink) Hopefully, the movie doesn't abuse the book too much.

3 To visit a a special friend and mentor of mine who lives in Austin. We write but our paths never cross anymore.

Happy New Year Janelle and Brian-Madalyn
