Noisetrade - Great Idea, Great Music

There's a great website out there for musicians and music-lovers:
Noisetrade
Artists - many of them independent of record labels - can place their albums on this website for a small fee. Then, fans and music lovers can download their music directly. You have the option of "tipping" the artist ANY amount you want, or you can even download the album for free. All the site asks for is your email address and zip code (if you pay, then of course, you give a credit card number).

Normally, musicians make only a couple bucks off of a $15 album; the rest goes to everyone else involved in the process. But through noisetrade, you connect directly to the artist, and thus, ALL the money you give goes DIRECTLY to the artist. So, if an artist normally makes only $2 off a $15 album purchase through retail, a tip of $4 for an album through Noisetrade would actually double their normal profits.

So, let's sum up:
1. Great music for anything you want to pay.
2. Lots of publicity for aspiring musicians.
3. Dealing with the artist directly, thereby helping them more efficiently.
4. Be generous. It's hard being an artist!

Here are some of my favorite Noisetrade artists so far (I don't guarantee they're all still on the site):

The Allens

Micah Dalton

Jill Phillips

Sleeping at Last

The Civil Wars
